We are proud to announce the launch of the Synergy Cloud Communication Module. This device enables SmartMonitor 2 Infant Apnea Monitors already in the field to communicate wirelessly with Synergy Cloud software. The Communication Module is easy to use and works on any Wi-Fi network. This means parents can send their monitored baby's data to clinicians without the need for a Home Care Provider to drive out to their home—saving both families and providers time and money. Data is available to the clinical care team immediately and can be uploaded as often as the care team desires.

Infant monitors detect and record cardiorespiratory events, warning caregivers when a baby has a potentially life-threatening episode. Periodically, the data from the events is provided to the doctors via Synergy Cloud software, so that the doctor can manage the course of care for the baby on an outpatient basis. This new Communication Module streamlines data sharing from the baby in the home to the doctor.

This system helps premature newborn infants graduate from the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) to home sooner, shortening their length of stay in the NICU, saving hospitals money, and uniting these newborns with their families sooner.  “We are excited to introduce the Synergy Cloud Communication Module,” said David Groll, CEO of Circadiance. “The Synergy Cloud Communication Module automates provider’s infant monitoring programs, making them more profitable and more clinically useful” continued Groll. “This technology is the next step in our effort to help these at-risk newborn babies safely join their families after their early life challenges”.

The system will ensure the continued monitoring of this vulnerable patient group from any remote location even with previous-generation infant monitors.

Understanding premature infants:
-    There are approximately 500,000 premature births in the US each year
-    Many of these babies spend weeks or months in the NICU before being discharged home
-    The cost range of a NICU stay is $3,000 to $20,000 per day
-    Home infant monitoring with SmartMonitors can shorten NICU length of stay 5 to 7 days
-    SmartMonitor 2 is currently the only FDA-approved infant apnea monitor
