Pittsburgh, PA
Circadiance, a pioneer in respiratory therapy specializing in positive airway pressure, non-invasive ventilation and remote patient monitoring, announced today that it has received another patent for its SleepWeaver line of Soft Cloth CPAP Masks. The Japan Patent Office has granted a patent titled “Improved Respiratory Mask with Disposable Cloth Body” covering certain features of the SleepWeaver Elan Soft Cloth CPAP Mask under the patent number of 2014-000398.
With the addition of this patent, Circadiance holds 12 US and international patents around its cloth masks technology. “These patents provide further validation of the novelty of our CPAP mask solutions” said David Groll, founder, and CEO of Circadiance. “Circadiance customers report that our Skin FriendlyTM CPAP Masks are more comfortable and easier to wear because they are lighter and softer than hard plastic CPAP masks.” SleepWeaver masks are the only cloth masks on the market, as well as the lightest and softest masks available to CPAP users.
The entire family of SleepWeaver CPAP Masks are Skin FriendlyTM. The masks are made of soft cloth, just like your clothes and bedding. The SleepWeaver Masks are the lightest CPAP masks made. They are breathable by allowing moisture from the skin or from the CPAP humidifier to wick through the cloth and evaporate into the air stream in the CPAP mask. This keeps the area between the mask and the skin dry. The elastic fabric on the SleepWeaver interface conforms to your facial features, so there are no pressure points. SleepWeaver Masks form a cloth balloon so that the portion that contacts the face is a cushion of air, rather than a silicone or polyurethane gel gasket. There is also no rigid frame pressing against your face. This lets you roll over on your pillow or sleep face down without issue.
“The addition of this patent to our portfolio strengthens our intellectual property position in the global CPAP mask market” continued Groll. The market opportunity for CPAP Masks is large and growing. Available data indicate that the global market for CPAP Masks is approximately USD$2 billion, growing at a compound annual rate of 9.2% through to 2022.
